They are my joy

These two keep my heart joyful. Thank you for the many, many outpourings of love and support during these days. I am so grateful for the community surrounding us. Here are a few pictures from the past few weeks...

Dancing - check out Isaac's sweet moves & Grace trying to snap

Isaac decided he didn't want his dinner so he started feeding it to his sister. I know I've said it before, but I love that they always have each other.

Crazy Climber & A Cowgirl

While it can be exhausting to keep up with two of them, 18 months is definitely a fun stage! Grace & Isaac's personalities are really beginning to shine. They are talking more & more (some words intelligible, others not so much), they love to dance, sing, make messes, "help" me in the kitchen, chase each other, explore, read, be outside...the list goes on & on. Of course, they are their own little people, so while they have many similarities and common interests, they each have things that make them uniquely Grace and uniquely Isaac. For example: Isaac loves to climb, and Grace loves shoes...

This may look like a sweet, ordinary, early morning picture of brother and sister. However, when they went to bed the night before, they were in two separate cribs. I went in to get them in the morning, and surprise, they were both in Grace's crib!! We knew the day was coming soon - well it has arrived! Now they are in her crib together almost every morning.

Cousin Liberty gave Grace these boots and she loves them! She was wearing them with a little denim dress on Sunday and when I went to change her diaper, she threw a fit. It took me a minute to realize the problem was that she wanted to keep her boots on. Nicole was over & snagged these pictures. I think she looks like she's striking a pose in the second picture here. What a funny girl!

Colorado Trip

I had a great couple of days in Colorado this past weekend. I had not yet seen Lindsey & Micah's new home and was itching to meet my new little niece. It was a treat to have a two hour flight by myself and the weekend with people that I love so much! Their new home is beautiful, and Eden is even more-so. We spent most of our time at the house just being together and relaxing. The time went too quickly, but I was also ready to get back home to my little munchkins. They were waiting for me at the airport, and I was so glad to see them! Here are a few pictures from my trip - believe it or not, I didn't get a single one with Lindsey or Micah!!

Eden Elizabeth Holmes at 3 weeks old. Isn't she sweet?!

Not the most flattering picture of me, but it shows how I spent much of my trip, just cuddling with my new niece.

She kept scooting down onto my belly & we decided she wanted to snuggle with her cousin - which was especially funny, because he kept kicking & moving around while she was laying there. I love that Kolby is only three months older than Grace & Isaac and that Eden will be three months older than our new little guy. What a gift to have cousins so close in age.

My buddy Kolby! He is such an animated, verbal, energetic kid. I can't wait to have all of the kids together at Christmas. It will be chaos for sure, but lots of fun.

He was hanging out with me while I dried my hair and decided to wear his mom's headband. He kept it on most of the morning.

A Full Few Weeks

It really has been a full few weeks around here!

We had the incredible privilege of spending a good deal of time with Flo & Nomayeza, our friends from South Africa. Our church is in partnership with St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Umtata, South Africa and both churches send & receive guests each year as the relationships continue to develop. When Joe went to Umtata a couple of years ago, Flo's family was one of the families he stayed with. I was pregnant with the twins at the time, so Flo (pictured below holding Grace) was especially excited to meet them. Flo is a gifted woman. She has three boys, works at an eye clinic, and is very involved in ministry at church.

Nomayeza (pictured below with Grace), is the youth leader for St Andrew's and is an amazing woman. She is the mother of three young girls, teaches middle school, and has begun a youth program at the church this past year. One purpose of this trip was that she & Joe could talk about youth ministry, share ideas, and engage in creative thinking together. We really enjoyed our time with these friends.

Joe ran the Colbert Half Marathon yesterday & once again ran really well. He beat his time from last year by three minutes and isn't even sore today. Our friend Chris ran it as well and came in third place. Way to go guys!

The kids & I went out to cheer Joe on down the home stretch. Thankfully the rain stopped long enough for us to be out enjoying the morning for a little while without getting wet.

Both kiddos have been sick with colds, but we have still managed to spend ample time outside. I really wanted to get some cute fall pictures of them, but Grace wasn't feeling well and wouldn't humor me...

I love Isaac's expression here.

Our usually happy girl was not so happy...

If we're not outside, their favorite activity these days is reading. As a teacher, I love that they are enjoying books so much and getting all this exposure to language. Now we just need to get a few new books as we have many of them memorized!!

Ok, ok, I finally had Mom take a few "belly shots" as some far away family members want to see how things are progressing. We just took these last night, and I'll be at 27 weeks tomorrow. I am continually amazed (and grateful) at how different this pregnancy is from the last. I am tired, but I feel fine and have not had any of the complications or difficulties that I had with the twins. What a gift! Now I just need to find some pictures from the last pregnancy so you can see the difference.

The biggest news is that our new little niece, Eden Elizabeth Holmes was born week before last! Everyone is home & doing well. I am thrilled to get the opportunity to fly to Colorado to meet her this next weekend. Don't worry, I'll take plenty of pictures to post. For now, check out the Holmes Family blog to see sweet Eden.
